There are three main parts of a skateboard, the wheels, the trucks and the deck. There are all different kinds of decks. Some that you can get are: Boom, Blank, Edwards, Zero, Birdhouse and Shortys. The trucks support the wheels. You can get abec ones, twos, threes, fours, fives, six, sevens. Abec ones are the slowest. Most people select Abec threes because they are the right speed for most people. You can get plastic or rubber wheels. Rubber wheels are the fastest type.
There are so many moves you can do on a skateboard. Most beginning skateboarders first learn the basic skateboarding tricks such as ollie, kickflip, and 180 degree ollie. The more complicated moves are 360 flip, 540 flip, hardflip, method and many more. There are also grinds, which is when you ollie onto a bar or pole, etc. and grind it. Some grinds are: boardslide, 50-50 grind, 5-0 grind, blunt and much more.
There are many famous skateboarders who skateboard for a living like Tony Hawk, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen and many more.
How to do an ollie: Push off fast, once you are going fast put your back foot on the tail and your other foot in the middle of the board. Push down on the tail then push your other foot up the board to your front trucks. Do the same with your other foot so that it goes on the bottom trucks. The board should then hopefully be in the air. Land onto the board. When landing it, bend your knees so that the board doesn't absorb the impact. The board may snap if you dont land properly.
How to do a 180 ollie: push off when you have enough speed put your left foot on the top trucks and your right foot on the nose, then ollie while your right foot pushes the nose down. Turn the board 180 degrees by pushing it to the right now rotate 180 degrees then land it.
How to do a kickflip: put one foot on the tail so you get comfortable and the other foot on the left side just below the middle of the board. Push your foot on the tail down, when it hits the ground quickly push your other foot forwards, so that your board's flipping in the air. When it has gone right around and your still in the air land on the board.
How to 50-50 grind: find a pole then push off, then ollie onto the pole and keep your balance. When your trucks are on the pole, push back on your tail, then push off.
Tips
When ollieing off steps keep your feet on the trucks, so that you do not snap the board. Absorb moves with your knees so that the board doesn't snap. If it's raining, it's not a good idea to go for a skate outside because it will be easier to snap your board and the wood will become soggy.
